Hospitality Management Certificate

About

The Hospitality Management certificate is focused on preparing students to understand the planning, analysis, and decision-making techniques needed for management positions in the hospitality industry. Students will develop skills related to principles of management, sustainability, development, cultural tolerance, marketing, finance, and service quality as they apply to the hospitality industry.

This certificate requires a minimum of 15 credit hours of designated courses, all courses may be taken online.

Admission Requirements

Currently Enrolled in an Undergraduate Degree Program at TAMU

– If required, have permission from their departmental advisor to apply for the program
– All TAMU students in any major may apply
– An overall TAMU GPA of 2.0 or higher is required for acceptance into the HSMG program
– Must complete the HSMG admissions application and essay

Currently Enrolled in a Graduate Degree Program at TAMU

– If required, have permission from their departmental advisor to apply for the program
– All TAMU students in any graduate degree may apply
– An overall TAMU graduate GPA of 2.0 or higher is required for acceptance into the HSMG program
– Must complete the HSMG admissions application and essay

Non-Degree Seeking Student at TAMU

– You must apply to TAMU as a non-degree seeking student first (http://admissions.tamu.edu/other/nondegreeseeking)
– Must have 4-year degree from an accredited university with at least a 2.0 overall GPA.
– Must complete the HSMG admissions application and essay

RPTS 331             (3)     Tourism Marketing (prereq: RPTS 302)
RPTS 323             (3)     Managing Hospitality and Recreation Organizations / Tourism Management (prereq: RPTS 201 or 302)
RPTS 421             (3)     Hotel Resort Operations (online only)
RPTS 444             (3)     Service Quality for Hospitality Organizations (online only)

Notes: If you took RPTS 304 or RPTS 411, we will accept in lieu of RPTS 323.

GPA Requirements

  • Students must earn a grade of “C” or better in each HSMG applicable course.
  • Must maintain a 2.5 GPA in required HSMG courses to earn certificate
