Each student must work a minimum of 400 hours (note temporary Pandemic Policy below) with an organization, government agency or company involved in aspects of tourism, event coordination, parks, recreation, youth development, community development, conservation or hospitality management. Students have the option to work 150-299 hours for 3 credits of RPTS 484 and replace the other 3 credits required in the degree plan with an RPTS elective course. RPTS majors also have the option of taking 6 credits of RPTS electives in place of an internship.
Positions may be paid, unpaid, or partially paid, and employers may choose to provide other benefits such as lodging and meals. Students are required to register and pay for 6 credits of RPTS 484 during the semester of their internship.
